Salary Range: $62,345 - $76,826
Expected Hours: 35 hrs / Week

POSITION SUMMARY: Timiskaming Health Unit is seeking a highly motivated individual with interest in population health promotion. The individual will support municipalities with implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Timiskaming Community Safety and Wellbeing (CSWB) Plan. The individual will work under THU management with direction from a Steering Committee.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordination of a Steering Committee and Working Groups with representative sample of municipal leadership and social services to provide direction for the CSWB plan deliverables; 
• Maintain Terms of Reference for steering committee and working groups outlining agreed upon principles, shared goals and roles; 
• Considering available evidence and implementation strategies required, confirm the priorities, goals, actions and scope of work; 
• Engage community partners and people with lived experience and those who experience marginalization relevant to the priority area to inform the development of the strategies (policies, actions) in each area; 
• Support ongoing planning and evaluation of strategies in each area which clearly identifies roles, responsibilities, timelines, reporting relationships and requirements. 
• Monitor performance indicators; 
• Monitor the actions identified in the implementation plan, whether it is the creation, expansion and/or coordination of programs, training, services, campaigns, etc; 
• Monitor opportunities for funding and support grant applications; 
• Report on progress with a public facing report; 
• Prepare formal progress reports to participating municipalities; 
• Administrative duties (organize meetings, prepare reports, budgeting, etc); and, 
• Complete grant proposals for appropriate funding strategies as directed. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University degree in Health Promotion or related health field with health promotion courses and/or applied knowledge of health promotion; 
• Experience in public health or community health/development; 
• Demonstrated public health competencies; 
• Demonstrated project management and organizational skills: 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within diverse team settings 

  • Experience with planning theory informed communication strategies 

  • Experience with engaging and supporting people with lived and living experience and who experience marginalization
    

• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches;
• Knowledgeable in topics of community safety, crime prevention and wellbeing;
• Willingness to work flexible hours to meet program requirements; and,
• Fluency in French and English is an asset.
